Job Summary

We are looking for someone to provide breadth of knowledge and experience to direct J2EE and open platform solution development. The successful applicant will liaise with Clients, Developers and other teams within Conchango to deliver successful Client projects and work with team leads to design application architecture. There will be opportunities to perform strategic technical consultancy with Clients, assist in the development of technical project plans and design and deliver high quality solutions.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

·         Excellent core Java programming skills

·         Architectural experience using key J2EE development elements, particularly: EJBs, Servlets, JSPs and, MVC frameworks.

·         Good experience of trouble shooting and debugging in a J2EE environment.

·         Experience of performance tuning and profiling in a multi-tier J2EE environment.

·         A working knowledge of one or more of the following: BEA WebLogic Server, IBM WebSphere, JBoss or equivalent platform. Deployment knowledge is important.

·         A working knowledge of one or more of the following development tools: JBuilder, Eclipse / WSAD, Netbeans, JDeveloper, or equivalent IDE – alongside version control systems (e.g. CVS) and Maven.

·         Solid core SQL skills, plus JDBC and transactional development, and a working knowledge of one or more of the following databases: Oracle, DB2, or MS SQL Server.

·         Working knowledge of design patterns and best practices around application design, including UML.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

·         Development of messaging applications using: IBM MQSeries, BEA Weblogic JMS / MessageQ, or equivalent.

·         EAI experience: ERP Integration, 3rd-party JCA adaptor usage, and web services development.

·         Knowledge or experience in lightweight containers such as Spring, PicoContainer etc.

·         Knowledge of experience of ORM technologies such as hibernate, Cocobase, Toplink etc.

·         Experience of AJAX technologies to support/implement Web 2.0 user interactions.

·         Knowledge or experience in integrating J2EE solutions with legacy mainframe systems.

·         Knowledge of J2EE vendor platform suites:  BEA, IBM, or Oracle.

·         Knowledge or experience of java based commercial e-commerce solutions, e.g. Blue Martini, Interwoven.

·         Experience with architecting and developing solutions that incorporate traditional content management systems technology, e.g. Tridion, Interwoven as well as newer JCR/JSR_170 based content repositories.

·         Hands-on experience with Unix based systems (Solaris, HPUX, BSD, Linux) including PERL and BASH scripting.

·         Ability and willingness to learn new technologies on own initiative.

·         Good technical writing and presentation skills.

·         Good customer-facing skills.

·         Good listening and communication skills.

·         Team player.

·         Ability to multi-task and prioritise.

·         Ability to head up and lead a J2EE development team, and follow a project through from conception to handover/release.

·         Be able to learn, understand and re-use existing components – which may be developed in-house, purchased or open source,

·         Willingness to travel within the UK as required.
