The life of the Conchango Recruitment Manager

Just the beginning...

My 1st blog...so where do I start?  I guess an introduction is as good a place as any.  My name is Michelle Flynn and I am the Recruitment Manager here at Conchango.  To put a face to the name I have attached a photo for you (not the one on my security pass you will be pleased to hear, as we all know those pictures are never ok!)

So my Conchango story so far.  I joined in July this year (after they headhunted me down in the Australian rainforest).  The mission which I accepted (very Ethan Hunt) was to make sure Conchango continues to be a leader in its field by recruiting the very best people in the business.  I knew this was never going to be an easy task as I'm not sure there is more than one Howard van Rooijen, Jamie Thomson, Keni BarwickRichard Wand (you'll already know these names as they love to blog, but this list could go on to name all our Consultants), but I love a challenge and have grabbed the opportunity with both hands, and so far so good (12 new recruits in my first 2 months of recruiting)!

After spending 8 years at my last company I must admit I was very nervous on my 1st day, that lasted about 2 mins after I arrived at my induction and I have not looked back since.  I could go on about how amazing Conchango, the people, the training etc are but that is not the aim of this blog (and I am sure you already know all this...), it is more to tell you a bit more about the person who's name you will have seen on Jobserve, ITJobboard etc, and also if I am honest I decided why should the Consultants here be the only ones to blog!

A bit more about me then (without it sounding like a profile on an online dating site), I have a degree in Applied Statistics (not as boring as it sounds, honest) and 9.5 years recruitment experience, I took 6 months out to travel the world (Oz, NZ, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia  - more on this in another blog) and am now aiming to make a great name for myself at Conchango (already on the way there, or so my Directors tell me).  They always tell you to put a bit about your hobbies on your CV so guess it is the same for your blog?  I love travelling, adventure sports (skydiving, glacier hiking), off road mountain biking, football (watching, not playing) and cooking (eating not doing).

Anyway thanks for taking the time to read my blog and I'll be back with some more stories soon...

Michelle, Welcome onboard, been great working with you thusfar, looking forward to seeing how you can help grow the company - just wonder where you find the time for all your hobbies ! You must tell us how a degree in applied science can possibly be anything other than boring ! David.

Mr Seymour, Thanks for the great comment. You are right, with all my hard work it is hard to find time to play, but I manage it.... As for Applied Stats being boring, outrageous statement! I shall look forward to explaining it to you over a beer. See you on Friday at the community day.
