Local Domain Groups vs Global Groups

We have an issue when using configframework whereby when you are in the "Windows Accounts" section and are selecting windows accounts for access control any groups within Active Directory that are Local Domain Groups are not showing up when browsing. However, if you just enter in the group name manually it would accept it.

Even stranger is the fact this only applies to some of the BizTalk Groups. With BizTalk Administrators Group, BizTalk Host Users Group and BizTalk Isolated Host Users Group you cannot browse these Local Domain Groups. However, when choosing SSO Administrator or SSO Affiliate Administrators groups you can.

I am assuming therefore that either there is a bug in configframework that is filtering the results, or that there is a reason why Local Domain Groups are being filtered out for the options specified above. I have tried to find further information on the internet to no avail.

So, if anyone can shed any light on this one I would be grateful! It isn’t a blocker, but I hate leaving questions unanswered and would not want to be bitten by an issue at a later date due to the use of Local Domain Groups.

Matt, casting my mind back a couple of years we had an issue with (I think) local domain groups on a file server, which was a member server in our Windows 2000 (mixed mode) domain. I can't quite remember the full details, but from memory, domain controllers could assign permissions to local groups but for member servers the groups just didn't show up in any dialogs. Once we went native it was all fine. Mark
