Datasets vs. Custom Entities

During my lunch today I was reading up on various opinions on whether to use DataSets, Custom Entities or other techniques when writing an application. Obviously it always depends on what you are attempting to create, but I came across this interesting blog entry that contained a lively discussion on this subject. It is a good read and I would recommend anyone that has any interest in this to have a look.

My favourite topic. I dislike datasets almost as much as databases. What ever happened to ObjectSpaces?

Just got an email from Genome about their latest release. Hopefully O/R tools like Genome, Hibernate etc. will take over, and developers can forget about database persistence issues (or pass the problem over to someone else.)

I feel a rant coming on.
