Google Maps on Windows Mobile

In the last 5 weeks I've spent 3 weeks in the US of A. The first week was at the MEDC at the Venetian in Vegas and the rest doing 9 parks in 14 days with three kids (4,6 and 7) in Florida. I need a holiday to get over it!

Anyway, I hired a car in Florida and promptly sent of making my way to the parks safe in the knowledge that I knew where I was going all the time... Why? Not because I'd been before, no... Because of Google Earth and the Mapping software they have brought out for us Windows Mobile guys...

I hooked up my TomTom Bluetooth GPS unit to the phone and connected the application to the GPS without a hitch... Then I asked for directions and away I went... I tell you what, not bad for free, not bad at all...

Ok so I was having to download maps whilst on the go (TIP: Connect via your PC and follow the route whilst on your PC's broadband, this uses your device memory to cache the map), but still the download speeds were very fast in the USA with my HSDPA enabled v1605.

Two things I was displeased with:

a) The connection timeout is either nill or very short. Come on Google, I don't care if you couldn't connect at that time... Just try again and again until you can! At least make it an on map notice rather than a message box!

b) I can't explain why, nor can I recreate it, but every once in a while it would just fully crash out. One minute its there, the next it's gone.

Other than that the software worked a treat, even why I didn't have my GPS charged up one day and we got lost... (that was fun!)
