Vodafone's v1605 (HTC Hermes/ TyTn) get's an upgrade

I was reading this and whilst I was on the call to my contacts within Vodafone, they advised that the AKU3.3 Firmware is currently in test and will launch once the testing has completed!

I am guessing that it will be a month or so before we see any downloads made available. They said to keep an eye on this site. i just wish they gave the site a better address eh!

Hi, I've been waiting for the HTC p4350 to be released through vodafone in the UK for months now. You seem to know more than most what goes on in this industry, do you know anything about possible availabilty dates for this phone. I see it's been available in Germany on the Vodafone website for ages, but just not here. I know it's only got a less-than-perfect 200MHz processor, but it's much thinner than the TyTN........ Any info would be very much appreciated, Thanks, Terry

O and Terry...

The processor is an ARM v5 not ARM v4 which is much better... Nearly twice as fast...

Hi

I have a htc - hermes and have purchased a Navigator 6 pack (including receiver). It says you must first pair your PDA with the receiver. This I do successfully but once paired the receiver appears not to conect. It has a little blue light on it which when paired flashes but I get no flashes and after 5 minutes it switches itself off!

Any suggestions are most welcome - it's driving my crackers.

Not as yet, still looking at the site... It seems strange that it's taken this long, plus now Windows Mobile 6 updates are starting to service... I guess it will happen when we least expect it.

Keith wanted to know about pairing a GPS receiver. This also drove me nuts to the point where I almost threw it into the Atlantic ocean. This is how I did it. 1: paired the device. 2: set an Outgoing connection on "COM 0" to the paired device. 3: told Tom Tom to look at "COM 0".

Hope this helps

Phil, Keith...

It's true that some devices work on COM:0, some work on others... The best way to determin the COM port of your GPS device is via trial and error...

However, I can see in the near future a utility that can scan through the device COM ports and find the GPS unit for you... I just can't see when I will get the time to code it ;)

Hi, any update? When I called Vodafone about my TyTN a few weeks back they told me to try out the vodafone.da ROM upgrade, but couldn't say for sure if I'd have German menus everywhere! Given the number of months that have passed can we be sure that Vodafone UK are doing anything?

Hi James, the links seem to get taken out of comments. So if you can go back to the other post on this it has the link in plane text...

Hope that helps

Hi Hugh (and others),

There was a problem with the actual link on both my end and the end of the provider, in this case Vodafone.

So what I have done is placed it on to a RapidShare page here:

Sorry for the mix up...

Hi Ken, been watching this for some time with interest and have finally got around to upgrading my 1605. All went well but I have read in several places on the net that the AKU3 update provides native support for WPA2 with AES on the WIFI. This was the main reason for me upgrading but having done so the WIFI still only appears to support WPA with TKIP. Have you heard anything about this from your contacts ?

Hi, all and thanks for this post. Just applied the update to my v1605 and as it was straight from the box I've not noticed any change. I have the offical HTC WM6 for the VF unbranded device but am struggling to get anywhere with it, does anyone have any ideas?

Keni, is there anyway to downgrade to a pre AKU3.3 version of the software? I'd really like to get DUN back and that sees to be the sensible way to go about it. I got a tomtom for christmas and would really like to be able to use tomtom traffic
