Today is the V/P day in my book... I've been itching to let you all know about this little beauty ever since MEDC (Damn those NDA's
" />)...
When Palm released the 700w only in the states the Euro moboholics were like "DUDE! that’s so not fair!" But no more! To address it those Palm guys along with their Voda buddies have a plan to release a Euro version!
Vodafone, Palm & Microsoft announced the other day that they will be releasing a windows mobile based palm treo device.
http://euro.palm.com/uk/en/about/nextgeneration/form.html
The device will be something like the one of these rumoured Palms - Lennon, Nitro or Hollywood.
With the obvious difference to existing palms we don't have an aerial to deal with. I'm sure this is an urban myth, but is it really true that American's don't buy phones without aerials!!!
So, what can we expect?
- Windows Mobile 5.0
- AKU2.x (AKU-3 maybe?)
- 700w Today Plugins
- Quad-Band 3G/GSM/GPRS – How about HSDPA?
- 128Mb ROM, 64Mb RAM (seems the norm nowadays)
- Square 240x240 display
- 1.3 Megapixel camera?
- Mini-SD memory expansion
- Bluetooth 2, A2DP?, Infrared
- WiFi? Doubt it'll fit in, which is a shame, but hey we can't have everything!
No word yet on the name or number of this device, wonder when they will release specs and images…..
I think this a good thing that the Euro zone will be getting a great new Windows device from the Palm stable. If your interested in a device that has a full qwerty and is Pocket PC you would be hard pressed to find a better device.
Vodafone has been VERY slow in getting the Windows Mobile family into its portfolio, but hey here they come with a vengeance! Wonder what else they have waiting in the wings… Watch this space!
Register you interest for this device on over on www.vodafone.co.uk/palmtreo - I know I have...
