Netezza and Microsoft BI Integration

In a press release earlier this week Netezza announced the launch of its data integration strategy for Microsoft Business Intelligence, http://www.netezza.com/releases/2009/release010609.htm.

There isn't a huge amount of information at the moment but it does mention PerformancePoint, Reporting Services, Integration Services and Analysis Services - so perhaps Netezza could be a data source for Analysis Services?

As always, let me know if you have any comments or know of any further developments,

John

Being a recent convert to Analysis Services, I've been thinking about how useful AS would be if you incorporated it with enterprise warehousing platforms like Teradata and Netezza.

If you've got the type of volumes that require you to have an enterprise platform then you're most likely to end up using HOLAP as the base granularity volumes will be too to use MOLAP.

My own view is that this will work well, and in particular with Netezza's concurrency issues, it could allow you to service all queries at an aggregated level via AS with good service, and yet allow drill down to Terabytes of transaction level data.
