Over the past few days I have been taking Popfly for a spin. For those that don't know Popfly is a tool that half-witted developers (that's me) can use to create mashups. If you don't know what a mashup is then you probably don't need to read the rest of this blog entry.
What I like about is that it can be used to create Vista Sidebar Gadgets and Live Spaces web gadgets however I was disappointed to find that there is currently no way to publish directly to your Live.com page, although plans for it are in the pipeline.
In the meantime, there is a workaround that you can use to put Popfly mashups into Live.com. The Live Gallery contains a HTML Sandbox gadget that you can add to your Live.com page and copy paste the <iframe> code that Popfly provides for embedding mashups. Dead easy.
I wanted to post a demo up here but it looks as though our blogging engine doesn't support <iframe> tags unfortunately, or we have it configured not to. I'm working on that!

UPDATE: Turns out there's an even easier way. Simply add the Popfly container gadget to your Live.com page and point it at the mashup you're interested in. Works a treat!
