This post isn't strictly the sort of thing we're supposed to put on our blogs here at Conchango but hopefully the powers that be will indulge me for a bit.

My big news that I've been waiting to unveil for quite a while now until it was all confirmed is that I am moving to the US. More accurately, to Bakersfield, California. For the next 12 months I'm going to be working on an exciting Conchango project out there. My role will be Lead SSIS Developer so I'm going to have a whole year of getting down and dirty with the product which will hopefully give me some good material for this blog.

What excites me most about this agile project is that I'll be going out there with some fantastically talented people including some fellow Conchango bloggers; dotnet expert Andy Britcliffe and Analysis Services guru Christian Wade. We've got a real challenge out there to deliver a Service Oriented Business Intelligence system but when we do we're going to deliver some fantastic value to our customer.

This post gives me the opportunity to say a swift farewell to to all my Conchango colleagues that are dispersed here there and everywhere around the UK. I'll be back to bother you all at the annual company days guys!

Lastly on a personal note my partner, Helen, and I are tremendously excited about "doing California" for a year. Keep up with our escapades on our personal blog at http://helenandjamie.spaces.live.com/  (rss: http://helenandjamie.spaces.live.com/feed.rss)

That is all.
