Visual Studio 2005 SDK and Scrum

There's a really fascinating video up on Channel 9 about the Visual Studio 2005 SDK team, Phil Taylor talks about the product and his team's approach, using Scrum to enable them to deliver monthly CTP drops and larger releases every quarter to synchronise with Microsoft events such as TechEd, VSLive, PDC etc.

I was also really interested to hear that his team break their Sprint Backlog Items down in granularity to 8-16 hour units of work and how they define each Sprint Backlog Item as a User Story. What I love about this video is the obvious passion Phil has for the process, which is especially pleasing to see as he comes from a government systems / waterfall background. His team must be doing something right because they were recently given a Lighthouse award by Somasegar. Well done guys! When are you going to give Scrum for Team System a try?
