I attended a meeting of the London Ruby User Group (LRUG) last night – Ben Griffiths (CTO of Reevoo) gave a talk about his team’s experience of testing Ruby applications and how Ruby Idioms bring much more flexibility to the fold.
It was quite eye opening to see how simply objects could be mocked and tested without having to use heavyweight mocking and testing frameworks or having to use design patterns such as Dependency Injection. The evening was hosted by Skills Matter – who specialise in Open Source Technology Training.
We've been using WATIR on my current project (with great sucess) to automate our test cases for our web application, but I'm wondering how long it will be before someone creates a Monad (I'm with Scott - I'm still at level 4) alternative.
